Matt Damon to Play Lance Armstrong?

Posted on: Jul 21, 2005

U.S. Cyclist Lance Armstrong is about to win his seventh straight Tour de France on Sunday before he retires from the sport. His story, of an amazing comeback from cancer, is certainly worthy of the big-screen treatment, and Armstrong tells Men’s Journal he has a possible candidate in mind to play him in a biopic.

“I’ve had the chance to get to know Matt Damon. He is a fan of cycling and has a connection to cancer. He has even expressed an interest in the role,” Armstrong said in the magazine.

Helicopter plummeted

Posted on: May 7, 2005

Early this week there were some reports of Matt fearing for his life, after his helicopter plummeted during a flight to Sweden. However, according to contactmusic.com, it was Matt Dillon that was in the helicopter, not Matt Damon.

Now, I don’t know which story is true, but I’m sure that if anything too serious had happened, we’d have known already, so, I’m glad nothing happened!

Matt Damon to Play Marco Polo

Posted on: May 3, 2005

Warner Bros. Pictures has set Kingdom of Heaven screenwriter William Monahan to write Marco Polo, a historical epic based on Polo’s autobiography “Travels” that will be a star vehicle for Matt Damon.

Variety says a deal is being negotiated for Damon to play Polo, who ventured farther into Asia than any Westerner before him. His journey took 24 years, during which Polo became a confidante of Kublai Khan and witness to many technological advances of China and Mongolia.

Monahan also wrote Tripoli, the story of how U.S. soldier William Eaton joined forces with an exiled king to overthrow the corrupt ruler of what is now Libya. Ridley Scott is attached to direct.

Monahan is adapting the Cormac McCarthy novel Blood Meridian for Scott to direct, with Scott Rudin producing.

Matt Engaged?

Posted on: May 2, 2005

HOLLYWOOD star Matt Damon has reportedly popped the question to girlfriend Luciana Barroso

The buff star of action flicks including The Bourne Identity has been dating Barosso for 12 months since he met the aspiring interior designer at the Miami bar where she worked.
Since then, Barosso has travelled the world with the 34-year-old actor, staying with him in Europe during the filming of Ocean’s 12 and even travelling Down Under late last year for the premiere of The Bourne Supremecy.

A friend told American gossip mag Us Weekly the pair were engaged but “it’s all very hush, hush”.

Damon’s spokesperson has refused to confirm or deny the reports.

Damon has been linked to several Hollywood stars in the past including Winona Ryder and, most famously, Minnie Driver, who heard news of the couple’s break-up via the Oprah Winfrey show.

But, after the media circus surounding good pal Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, Damon told the Sunday Telegraph Sunday Magazine last year that he was sworn off celebrity romances and now only dates “civilians”.

If the wedding rumours prove true, Damon may share another journey with Affleck, who is also rumoured to have popped the question to his latest love – Alias star Jennifer Garner.

Aww, how cute!! The site also has a picture of the couple.
