Although Matt Damon doesn’t look a day over kick-a**-action-star, Damon turns the big 4-1 today. But just like the heartthrob bad guy chasers before him, Damon won’t let his growing collection of birthdays slow him down. Check out these photos of Damon from Snakkle before he knew how to throw a mean right hook (“The Bourne Identity”) or have his way with a rugby ball (“Invictus”).
Ever since his high school days, Damon had the makings of a full on Hollywood heatthrob.
Matt Damon nominated for an Emmy!
I had completely missed that one as I usually don’t pay much attention to the comedy nominations. Bad me!
Anyway, Matt Damon got nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for his role as Carol in 30 Rock. Awesome!
The Emmys will be held Sunday, September 18th, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Fox will be broadcasting the show, and Glee’s Jane Lynch will be hosting.
Matt Damon shuns fame
Matt Damon says his marriage to non-celebrity Luciana Barroso is the key to his ‘quiet life’
Matt Damon considers himself a “lucky devil” compared to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Matt is happily married to Luciana Bozán Barroso, and the couple raise four kids together; Isabella, five, two-year-old Gia, Stella, nine months, and Alexia, Luciana’s daughter from a previous relationship.
The Hollywood hunk is happy with his work/private life balance, and argues power couples such as Brad and Angelina face a much tougher ride. Matt met Argentine-born Luciana when she was working as a bartender, and cites her non-showbiz status as the reason they have more privacy. He also thinks his decision to shun living in Hollywood lends him greater space.
“Brad and Angie are like prisoners. When they go for a walk it is always a huge international sensation. I am lucky devil. I am doing work I love but I don’t need paramilitary troops who care for me the minute I’m leaving home,” he laughed to German TV station Tele 5.
“I am not as crazy as most of the other celebs. Probably because I married a woman who isn’t an actress. And New Yorkers are really cool they don’t go nuts when they see me. My kids don’t latch on to the whole celeb hustle and bustle.”
As a great advocate of privacy, Matt isn’t keen on social-networking sites where members give out details of their day-to-day life either. The heartthrob is bemused by the way youngsters post such risqué videos on sites such as Facebook, and thinks in the future people will become less inclined to do so.
“We haven’t quite realised what that media could do to us. And that’s why we make mistakes like sending naked pictures of ourselves. The next generation will be more careful and say, ‘Maybe we shouldn’t tape ourselves having sex. That could look strange,’” mused Matt.
Matt Damon’s dad battling cancer
Matt Damon seems like a pretty great guy, but he may be an even more awesome son.
“My family is so grateful for the care you’ve given us,” the Adjustment Bureau star said at a fundraiser last night for Massachusetts General Hospital’s Cancer Care Center, where his father, Kent, has been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood.
“It’s deeply humbling to see how many people here are committing their lives to helping others,” Matt said. “We’ve lost some close personal friends to cancer in recent years, but I never thought it would happen to my dad, the marathon runner…It sucked.”
Happily, Kent Damon is currently in remission—and, apparently, a great mood.
“We try not to take this celebrity deal too seriously,” he joked, referring to his A-lister son. He told the crowd a story about opening up the paper to read about Matt’s Academy Award nominations for Good Will Hunting in 1997, and “there was a picture of Robert Duvall, Peter Fonda, and Dustin Hoffman—then there was a picture of my 27-year-old son. He didn’t belong there with all these seasoned actors!”
Getting serious, however, Kent also said that his Boston-bred boy was “all you could ever for ask for in a son. It’s been a wonderful ride being his dad.”
Cue tears.
Matt actually succeeded his pops onstage, wondering “How do you follow that? My dad’s biggest fear is public speaking, and I’m like, ‘You’ve got cancer man!’
“When people ask me, “What’s so great about Boston?’ I say, ‘Oh, the people, the sports teams—actually, I’d start with the sports teams—[and] the hospitals,” the actor continued, according to the Boston Herald.
“But if you had ever heard of Mass General, you were raised to believe it was the best hospital in the world. You were raised to believe that the Red Sox would break your heart and that MGH was the best hospital in the world.”
I wish him all the best and good luck on fighting this horrible disease.
Matt Damon’s no ‘sell out’
Matt Damon would “never sell” out a director.
The actor-and-screenwriter says once he has agreed to appear in a movie or has hired a filmmaker for the project he could never get rid of them, even if he didn’t think it was working out, because he’d already committed to the project.
He told Men’s Health magazine: “My movies being really good or watchable always depends on everybody being really good, not just me. I’m particularly sensitive about making sure we secure the best possible people in each role because I am not somebody who can overcome if we don’t.
“And then, for me, once I make that commitment, I never will sell the director out on that project. You cannot change horses midrace. Even if your horse is losing, you ride the horse as hard and as fast as you can. If there was a mistake made, it was made in your initial decision to work with that person.”
Matt – who is currently starring in thriller ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ alongside Emily Blunt – also revealed he and writing partner Ben Affleck never take offence when their ideas are criticised by the other person.
He said: “When one of us comes up with an absolutely f**king horrible idea, which happens all the time, the other person, without batting an eyelash, says ‘That’s a terrible idea.’ And neither of us has our feelings hurt, and we just kind of move on.”
Matt Damon To Save Civilization (With His Voice) In ‘Plan B’
He has pushed reusable water bottles, done many a PSA, and even robbed a casino… now, eco-celeb Matt Damon will be lending his voice to help save the planet, and the human race!
Damon will be narrating the new PBS documentary Plan B: Mobilizing to Save Civilization, the latest installment in the “Journey to Planet Earth” series. The 90-minute doc is based on the book by climate crusader Lester Brown, and discusses the very real impact of climate change, and what we all must do to prevent future catastrophes. Joining Lester Brown and Matt Damon in the documentary are Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman, Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman, former Governor and Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt, and others.
This sort of work is nothing new for Damon, who backs the eco-activist site Water.org, has worked with OneXOne, and was recently given a Critics’ Choice Award for his charitable work.
The documentary looks fascinating, and aims to provide “a glimpse into a new and emerging economy based upon renewable resources as well as strategies to avoid the growing threat of climate change.” Lester Brown seems to have some ambitious but realistic solutions, so let’s hope this plan goes into action.
The film will premiere on PBS on March 30th at 10pm Eastern.

Matt Damon Recognized At Critics’ Choice Awards For Water.org Charity
While Matt Damon has taken the back seat to his “True Grit” co-stars Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld so far this awards season, the actor was acknowledged Friday night (January 14) by the Broadcast Film Critics Association during the 16th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for his humanitarian efforts.
In a segment presented by Jimmy Kimmel and Emily Blunt, Damon was given the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award for Service to the Community. While Kimmel provided comic relief, joking that the Oscar winner is “the greatest guy in the world,” the actor received serious accolades for his charity, Water.org.
Blunt, who stars with Damon in the upcoming film “The Adjustment Bureau,” explained that the organization Damon co-founded with Gary White helps to “provide developing countries with safe drinking water and sanitation by partnering with local communities.”
As Blunt delivered the staggering statistics that less than 1 percent of the Earth’s water is drinkable and more than 1 billion people don’t have access to clean water, Kimmel continued to kid with Damon, telling him, “Sean Penn is actually in Haiti right now … carrying things!”
Kimmel, who gets the last laugh at Damon’s expense every night on his late-night show, then cried foul on Damon’s many awards, mocking, “You know how much water he wasted in that shower scene in ‘School Ties’? A lot!”
Damon, playing as good a sport as ever to Kimmel’s jabs, then took the stage to accept his award to a standing-ovation audience that included his “Good Will Hunting” collaborator Ben Affleck. After taking a shot back at Kimmel — “I literally have no idea why you’re here,” he quipped — Damon got serious about receiving what he described as “a wonderful honor.”
The actor acknowledged the work of late film critic Joel Siegel, who, as Damon told the crowd, “Believed that you should use celebrity to improve the lives of others and he lived that way. So, I’m really honored to get this in his name.”
Though plenty of the segment included joking around with Kimmel, Damon got very serious when he delivered the news that, “Every 15 seconds, a kid somewhere on planet Earth dies because they don’t have access to clean water and sanitation.”
Calling that information “disgusting and unacceptable and unnecessary,” he added, “These are issues we’ve known how to solve here for 100 years in our country. … Just imagine if we cured AIDS tomorrow and in 100 years people were still dying of it, 3 million of them a year. It’s just really ridiculous.”
Damon concluded his speech by thanking his partner, White, and informed viewers that by donating $25 on the Water.org website, they could give a child “clean water for life.” He then promised that they would change the fact that 1 billion people do not have clean water and offered to viewers, “Feel free to join us.”
Matt Damon Receives Joel Siegel Award
Getting special recognition during the course of the evening, Matt Damon was toasted at the 16th annual Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles, California on Friday (January 14).
With the always-swanky ceremony taking place at the Hollywood Palladium, the “Bourne Indentity” star was brought onstage by Emily Blunt and Jimmy Kimmel to receive the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award.
The honor was bestowed upon Damon, a renowned actor and philanthropist, as a way to pay homage to beloved Good Morning America film critic and BFCA member Joel Siegel, who lost his long struggle with cancer in June, 2007.
Other big winners at the Critics’ Choice Awards included “The Social Network” as Best Movie and Natalie Portman as Best Actress.
Critics’ Choice Awards Honor Matt Damon, Quentin Tarantino
(CBS) Matt Damon and Quentin Tarantuno are being honored Friday night at the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
Actress Emily Blunt and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel will present Damon with the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award, named for the “Good Morning America” film critic who died of cancer in 2007.
Quirky film director Tarantino will get the first-ever Critics’ Choice Music+Film Award, designed to honor filmmakers for extraordinary cinematography combined with brilliant use of source and soundtrack music. Actor Tim Roth will make the presentation.
Other presenters at the awards show will be Hank Azaria, Josh Brolin, Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Hamm, Ed Helms, Rob Huebel, Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Moore, Joan Rivers, Paul Scheer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Spacey, Emma Stone and Sofia Vergara.
